mmpOS is a mining platform made of two parts: a Linux-based mining OS that boots from a USB stick or SSD, and a web dashboard that also manages Windows 10 rigs through an agent. It is built for home miners and small farms that run GPU, CPU or mixed rigs and want one place to set pools, overclocks and alerts. If you came here for an mmpOS download, note that the image is tied to a free dashboard account, which generates the config file each new rig needs.
mmpOS is shareware (conditionally free). The official pricing page counts usage per active GPU per day and includes enough free credits for up to 8 GPUs, for example eight single-GPU rigs. Beyond that you buy credits. Version 5.0 arrived in April 2026 and driver updates continue.
mmpOS at a glance

| Licence / fees | Shareware (conditionally free): free credits cover up to 8 active GPUs; more GPUs require purchased credits |
| Platforms | Linux-based OS for the rig (USB, HDD or SSD image, 8 GB minimum); Windows 10 rigs via the mmpOS agent; dashboard in any browser, optimised for phones |
| Supported hardware | AMD Radeon from Polaris and Vega through RX 6000, RX 7000 and RX 9000 (RDNA4), plus BC-250 boards; NVIDIA GTX 10xx through RTX 50xx and CMP cards; Intel Arc A- and B-series; CPUs; Xilinx FPGAs. Algorithms depend on the integrated miners (SRBMiner-Multi, XMRig, WildRig Multi, BzMiner, lolMiner, OneZeroMiner, TeamRedMiner and others) |

| Best for | Small and mid-size GPU or CPU rigs, mixed AMD/NVIDIA/Intel rigs, and owners who also keep some Windows miners |
What it does
- Ships one image for all supported GPUs, with selectable driver variants:
mmp nvidia-install,mmp amdgpu-installandmmp opencl-installeach offer several driver versions. - Manages wallets, pools and miner profiles in the dashboard, with placeholders such as
%wallet_address%.%rig_name%so one profile fits many rigs. - Runs several miners at once, split by platform: for example an AMD miner, an NVIDIA miner and a CPU miner on the same rig.
- Sets per-GPU clocks, voltages, power limits, target temperature and fan behaviour, with reusable global presets.
- Applies Smart Memory Tune, its built-in memory timing and memory-state optimisation for supported AMD and NVIDIA generations.
- Shows rig status (OK, Miner down, Rig down), hashrate and alerts, with optional notifications to Telegram.
- Provides remote console access, network and WireGuard VPN config generators, scheduled wake-up on supported boards, and custom miner support through an
mmp-stats.shscript.
How miners use it
Flash and register a new rig
- Create an account in the dashboard, open Rigs, then Get mmpOS, and download the image
mmp-latest.img.xz. - Write it to a USB stick or SSD of 8 GB or more with balenaEtcher. Check the target drive twice; it will be wiped.
- In Get mmpOS, open Autoconf, optionally set a hostname and rig password, and download
autoconf.txt. - Copy
autoconf.txtto the small config partition (about 19 MB) that appears after flashing, then boot the rig. It should show up in the Rigs list.
On Linux the official FAQ writes the compressed image straight to the drive. A local-file version of the same command, run as root:
xzcat mmp-latest.img.xz | dd of=/dev/sdX bs=1MSet up a coin and start mining
- Add your wallet under Wallets (for example
YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS). - Add a pool: hostname without the
stratum+tcp://prefix (for examplepool.example.com), port3333, username%wallet_address%.%rig_name%%miner_id%. - Create a miner profile: choose the coin, the platform (mmpOS/Linux or Windows 10) and a miner.
- Open the rig, set GPU clocks under Worker configuration, set a target temperature, then pick the profile under General.
Maintain the rig from the console
- Update packages with
mmp update, or select rigs in the dashboard and press the update button. - Upgrade drivers and kernel with
mmp update && mmp upgrade - Restart the agent after an update with
agent-restart.
Install and first run
- Linux rigs: any 8 GB or larger USB, HDD or SSD works. To install onto an internal SSD without a spare connector, the official MMP Installer image boots from USB and writes mmpOS to the target drive.
- Windows 10 rigs: install the mmpOS agent and link it to your account. If the agent does not see NVIDIA cards, the FAQ advises copying
nvml.dllfrom the driver folder into the agent directory. - Network: rigs use DHCP by default. Generate
netconf.txtfor Wi-Fi or a static IP, orvpn.txtfor WireGuard, and put it on the config partition before the first boot. - Rig not appearing: plug a monitor into the first GPU or the iGPU, note the IP, and add the rig by IP or with
mmp register YOUR_RIG_CODE. - Stable vs unstable: unstable (Ubuntu 26.04.1) has newer kernels; keep remote rigs on stable.
- Antivirus: the Windows PC you flash from, and Windows rigs running the agent, may flag bundled miners as potentially unwanted software, because the same miners are abused by malware. Download only from your dashboard or the official mirror instead of disabling protection.
- vBIOS tools: amdvbflash and nvflash are included at the command line, not in the dashboard. Flashing can brick a card and void its warranty; save the original BIOS first.
Limitations
- Free credits cover a limited number of GPUs. If credits run out, you get a 24-hour notice and then mining pauses until you add credits or run fewer GPUs.
- Credits are bought with cryptocurrency only; fiat payment is not supported.
- Management depends on the mmpOS cloud dashboard and your rig’s internet connection.
- Version 5.0 dropped X11 and older Ubuntu bases; the local desktop is now view-only, so local changes are made over SSH or a TTY.
- ASICs are not a focus: mmpOS targets GPU, CPU and FPGA rigs.
mmpOS vs alternatives
Hive OS is the most common comparison: a larger ecosystem with ASIC support and mobile apps, but it bills per worker, while mmpOS bills per GPU through daily credits. SimpleMining OS is a lean GPU-only option without Windows rig management. mmpOS stands out for frequent driver updates and Windows 10 rigs in the same dashboard. For ASIC firmware, look at Braiins OS instead.
FAQ
Where do I get the mmpOS download?
Register a free account, log in and open Rigs, then Get mmpOS. The same page generates autoconf.txt, so the rig registers itself on first boot.
Is mmpOS free?
Partly. The free credits cover up to 8 active GPUs; larger setups need purchased credits, so mmpOS is shareware rather than free software.
mmpOS vs Hive OS: which is better?
Hive OS has a bigger ecosystem and ASIC management. mmpOS is lighter, bills per active GPU, supports Intel Arc and manages Windows 10 rigs.
Can I move a rig from another mining OS?
Yes. Reflashing with the mmpOS image is the safe route. The FAQ also describes an experimental live migration from non-LVM Linux systems, tested on Hive OS and plain Ubuntu.
Is mmpOS safe?
Download only from your dashboard or the official mirror, set your own rig password in autoconf.txt, and keep SSH off public networks. Mine only on hardware you own or are authorised to use.
Is mining with mmpOS profitable?
The OS does not change mining economics. Profit depends on electricity price, hardware efficiency and coin prices, so do your own calculation first.
How do I update mmpOS?
Use the update button in the dashboard or run mmp update. Kernel and driver upgrades need mmp upgrade, and a badly outdated rig can be rebuilt with mmp reimage, which keeps its config.
