Kryptex is a free Windows mining app for home PCs and small rigs: it detects your GPU and CPU, picks a coin to mine, and converts the altcoin rewards into Bitcoin on your Kryptex balance. If you are looking for a Kryptex download, this page explains what the desktop app does, what it needs and how it differs from the separate Kryptex Pool.
The app is aimed at people who do not want to manage pools, wallets and miner command lines. You sign up with an email, install the app, press start, and withdraw later in Bitcoin or another supported asset. The trade-off is that Kryptex takes a pool fee and decides much of the setup for you.

What it does
- Detects GPUs and the CPU and starts mining right away, without a long benchmark phase (v5 app).
- Switches coins automatically by current profitability and runs bundled third-party miners such as krig-miner, PeakMiner and SRBMiner.
- Converts mined altcoins into Bitcoin automatically and stores your balance in BTC, shown in your chosen currency.
- Pays out in Bitcoin, USDT, Ethereum, USDC, Litecoin, BNB or TRX, to a Volet wallet, or as Amazon gift cards.
- Includes built-in GPU overclocking and per-device start, stop and restart.
- Limits CPU load (75% by default, adjustable to 100%) and the number of CPU cores, and can pause mining on battery.
- Lets you disable specific miner versions and stop the app from auto-expanding the Windows pagefile.
- Connects to the Kryptex mobile app for remote monitoring and control.
How miners use it
Turn a gaming PC into an idle-time miner
- Create a Kryptex account with your email; the desktop app is downloaded after signing up.
- Install the app and sign in. It detects your hardware and starts on the coin it considers most profitable.
- In Settings, lower the CPU load or the number of cores so the PC stays usable, and turn off CPU mining entirely if you only want the GPU to work.
- Pause the app before gaming or heavy work, or let it run overnight.
Tune a GPU with the built-in overclocking
- Open the device in the app and set memory and core offsets and the power limit for that card.
- Change one value at a time and watch temperatures and rejected shares for a few minutes.
- If a miner version crashes on your card, disable that version under Settings, Miner versions.
Connect a Linux rig or ASIC to the same balance
The desktop app is Windows-only. For rigs on Hive OS, Linux or ASICs, Kryptex offers account mining on its pool: you run any miner and use your Kryptex email instead of a wallet, and rewards are converted to Bitcoin on the same account.
miner --algo YOUR_ALGORITHM --server pool.example.com:3333 --user YOUR_EMAIL/RIG_NAME
Take the real server address and port for your coin from the Kryptex pool pages. The flag names depend on the miner you use.
Withdraw earnings
- Wait until the balance under “Available for payout” reaches the minimum for your chosen method.
- Pick the asset and enter your own wallet address.
- Confirm by email. Confirmed payouts cannot be cancelled, so double-check the address and network.
Install and first run
Requirements: 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a quad-core CPU released in 2016 or later, at least 8 GB of RAM recommended for CPU mining, and a discrete GPU from 2016 or later with at least 4 GB of memory. Integrated graphics such as Intel HD or AMD Vega are not suitable. The v5 requirements name the AMD RX 470/480–570/580, NVIDIA GTX 10-series and Intel Arc A380 as entry points, each with a minimum driver version, so update your GPU driver before the first run.
Laptops: they work, but Kryptex itself says results are modest and the app is designed for desktops. Use the pause-on-battery option and watch temperatures.
Antivirus: many antivirus products flag mining software as “Not-a-virus” or as a potentially unwanted application (PUA), because miners are often abused in malware. Kryptex’s FAQ advises adding Kryptex to the antivirus exclusion list. Add an exclusion only for the Kryptex installation folder, never disable protection globally, and install only the build from the official site.
Mysterium: in supported regions the app can also share internet traffic through Mysterium. Read what it does before enabling it.
Mine only on computers you own or are authorised to use.
Limitations
- Windows only for the desktop app; there is no Linux or macOS version.
- Closed source, and the fee percentage for the app is not published on the FAQ page, only that Kryptex takes “a small pool fee”.
- Rewards are converted to Bitcoin; if you want to keep the coin you mine, use a regular pool instead.
- Payouts are manual, and network fees for withdrawals are paid by the user on kryptex.com.
- Older or low-memory GPUs and integrated graphics are not supported.
- Profitability depends on electricity price, hardware and coin prices; the earnings estimate in the app is not a promise.
Kryptex vs alternatives
unMineable works on a similar idea, but pays out in the coin or token you choose rather than converting everything into Bitcoin, and publishes a fixed platform fee. NiceHash QuickMiner sells your hashpower on the NiceHash marketplace instead of mining a specific coin. If you prefer full control and no third-party conversion, run XMRig or another standalone miner against a normal pool, or manage rigs with Hive OS.
FAQ
Is there a Kryptex download for PC, Linux or Mac?
The desktop app is for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11 only. Linux rigs, Hive OS and ASICs can mine to a Kryptex account through Kryptex Pool with third-party miners.
Is Kryptex safe and legit?
Kryptex is an established service with a public changelog and published payout fees. Antivirus warnings are typical for any miner; install only the official build and keep your account protected with a strong password and email confirmation.
Is Kryptex profitable?
It depends on your electricity price, your GPU and current coin prices. Check the app’s estimate against your power cost before leaving it running all day.
Kryptex vs NiceHash: what is the difference?
Kryptex mines coins itself and converts them to Bitcoin on your balance. NiceHash sells your hashpower to buyers on its marketplace and pays you in Bitcoin.
Kryptex vs unMineable: which one to choose?
Choose Kryptex if you want a Bitcoin balance with several withdrawal options. Choose unMineable if you want payouts in a specific coin or token.
What is the difference between Kryptex and Kryptex Pool?
The app and kryptex.com convert rewards to Bitcoin with manual payouts. Kryptex Pool is a regular pool that pays automatically in the coin you mine; Kryptex states that profitability is the same on both.
Does Kryptex have an Android miner?
Kryptex lists a separate Android miner as well as mobile apps for monitoring your PCs; the desktop app described here is the Windows version.
